Why would I need a chiropractor?

People see a chiropractor for many different reasons. Chiropractic has in recent times been most notable for back and neck pain, as well as joint pain throughout the body. Currently, 80% of olympic athletes use chiropractic to perform their best, like that "fastest man in the world", Usain Bolt. Research has demonstrated that babies under maintenance chiropractic care have less incidence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and middle-aged men that do not experience pain but undergo maintenance chiropactic care experience significantly less heart disease then men that do not see a chiropractor. We have patients that come in for pain and stress relief, emotional issues, to enhance academic and sports performance, digestive symptoms, hormonal symptoms, and much more. Chiropractic helps condition the person experiencing the symptoms to improve their condition from within so they can heal and enhance their experiences in life.

What can I expect during my first appointment?

During your first appointment, Dr. Peahl will:  go through the paperwork that you will have filled out, ask you a series of questions & complete a history, and give you an exam.

Is this going to be a 1 time thing?

Everyone comes in with different expectations as well as varying levels of their condition. Some of our patients experience immediate resolution of their complaint in one treatment, but that is not the standard. For most people, their body needs to go through a training experience in how to function better, similar to going to the gym to get stronger. Just like you can't expect to be stronger after one visit to the gym, it is unreasonable for most people to expect to have conditioned their body to be able to heal in one treatment visit. Furthermore, we encourage our members to shift their perspective of Health Care to a Wellness perspective which is more proactive. As people suffering from degenerative conditions is on the rise in our communities, it is more important than ever that people choose a Wellness perspective to enjoy better qualities of living, not just now but in the years to come, as well as reduced cost to long-term Health Care. Everyone pays for Health Care in the end and waiting later always costs more.

What are you going to do?

We are going to do an examination and, for any unsatisfactory findings in the exam, do a correction in the moment to improve the function of your body. Utilizing the diagnostic techniques from Applied Kinesiology as well as Total Body Modification, we have acquired very dynamic examination skills to identify how to improve the human condition very rapidly and train your body to handle your stress in life more efficiently. Only when we find something not functioning appropriately do we determine and administer an appropriate intervention. Much of our examination utilizes manual muscle testing as it gives us an easy to access and complex perspective of how your nervous system is functioning and relating to other areas of your body. The interventions we utilize to improve the function of you include: gentle chiropractic adjustments using our hands as well as a clicking tool that does not make a crunch, massage and reflex therapy, tapping as well as cool-laser and needling of acupuncture points, emotional and memory recall procedures combined with gentle massage or chiropractic adjustments, lymphatic reflex therapy, vascular reflex therapy, pelvic blocking for gently chiropractic adjustments, exercise therapy, nutritional therapy including diet and supplement coaching, herbal and botanical therapy, and homeopathy.

What are the side effects?

Side effects is a term made up to nicely describe negative effects. When an intervention is administered, either pharmaceutical, surgical, chiropractic, or acupuncture, there are just effects. We encourage people to make their choices based on safety first and effectiveness second. As research has recently told us that in the United States the number 1 cause of death is the American medical profession, that drug errors is the number 3 cause of death, that drug non-errors is the number 4 cause of death, and more and more surgical procedures are deemed unneccessary and inappropriate. So what are the negative effects of care provided at Evolve? They are very minimal in comparison. Chiropractic negative effects include joint and muscle soreness, which is rare, as well as the possibility of fracturing a rib in a very elderly and osteoporotic patient, which we have not experienced. Insurance companies charge chiropractors the lowest malpractice premium of all primary doctors in the United States because they have the lowest complications. The only disclaimer or consent of treatment required of chiropractors is a relationship of stroke to neck manipulation. The statistics published in medical literature are this: the incidence of experiencing a stroke within one month of a chiropractor visit is 1 in 5-10 million, for an American walking down the street is 1 in 300,000, for a visit with a medical doctor is 1 in 100,000, and for a physical therapy visit 1 in 30,000. We have never experienced this event in our office of 8 years and intend to continue our practice of due diligence. Negative effects of acupuncture include mild soreness and mild bruising at areas of needle insertion which happens rarely. Negative effects of diet and nutritional changes may include mild digestive irritation and mood irritability. The positive effects of combining chiropractic, acupuncture, and nutrition into your Health to Wellness model are infinite!
